The 30/30 challenge is done and dusted!

Well, it is over. The 30 paintings in 30 days challenge has come and gone and I must say that I am more than a little relieved. I am sick of painting rivers. Haha. I cannot wait to get stuck into some different subject matter and see how the skills have come along in that time. When I stop and think about painting,I do feel more confident in my general ability to make it work but I guess we'll see. 

So how did the paintings end up? Overall, I reckon I had about 60% of the 30'paintings that I ended up happy with. I learned to work a lot more loose and quickly which resulted in some great moments but overall I still found that my tendency to "fiddle" was still prevelant so I did lose some of those moments too. 

I found the challenge fun but somewhat stressful in as far as feeling a little pressure to get the work done. My wife is happy that it is over. Haha. 

What would I do differently next time? 
I think I wouldn't narrow myself into a theme. I thought it'd make it easier, but really it gets a little boring by the end. Aside from that, I wouldn't change a thing. Great learning curve and I'm really looking forward to the next one to see how I've developed.

I was fortunate enough to travel a couple of hours down the freeway to Sydney last week to check out an exhibition of work from five fantastic artists, three of which are among my absolute favourites.  In the Winterlude exhibit, held at Artarmon Galleries, you get to peruse the work of Joseph Zbukvic, Herman Pekel, Alvaro Castagnet, Nic Canosa and Patrick Carroll.
