A Few New Works - Digital.

Hey Y'All,

Sorry it has been a while. I've been busy with life in general. Still doing a lot of drawing and painting though. I'm trying to build up a body of work to develop an Online sales presence. It is a lot of work but I'm sure it will pay off eventually. Imagine being able to quit your day-job to paint!!! That is the goal anyway.. :)  

So, I've recently bought my first iPad and I must say, I'm impressed! I originally only wanted it as a reference guide for my locations and photo storage etc, but I've discovered the somewhat dubious world of digital art. I bought the Procreate app and have been slowly getting used to this other art form. I do believe it is somewhat of a cheat but it serves as fantastic and convenient practice as well. I've gotten a few decent results out of it but nothing beats the real thing. After using the app for a few days, I found myself reaching for the 'UNDO' button when I made a false stroke on an actual painting. I WISH! :) 

So here are a few examples of the digital stuff I've been mucking around with. Thanks for reading.

Winterlude - 10 Years On

I was fortunate enough to travel a couple of hours down the freeway to Sydney last week to check out an exhibition of work from five fantastic artists, three of which are among my absolute favourites.  In the Winterlude exhibit, held at Artarmon Galleries, you get to peruse the work of Joseph Zbukvic, Herman Pekel, Alvaro Castagnet, Nic Canosa and Patrick Carroll. What can I say? The work was both beyond inspirational and in some cases, beyond amazing. Incredible. Having only seen their work on computer and TV screens up to this point, it was truly an eye-opener to see them in the flesh. The detail (or lack there of) that you miss on the screen is what makes all the difference. What I mean by that is the middle ground detail in a lot of their work is all based around correct perspective and tone.
