Welcome to The White Arts Blog

Hello there and welcome to what I hope will become one of your favourite Blogs. My name is Tony White, from Newcastle, Australia. I thought I'd introduce myself and let you know where this Blog has had its genesis.I'm 38 Years old and have always drawn and/or painted with varied success for as long as I can remember. I'm not the most naturally talented when it comes to art so I have to work hard for every good result that I get with the hope that it will eventually come to me without so much research and hard work. I'm not much of a draughtsman but I'm learning. Over the years, I've dabbled in most forms of painting. Far too impatient for oils (although I LOVE them), Acrylics were fun but I've recently rediscovered my love for the first medium I ever tried, Watercolours. They just suit me. Always seemed to fit the way I like to work but upon this recent love affair, I've also discovered that they are quite possible the hardest of the mediums to tame. They are unforgiving but Brilliant and luminous and atmospheric. In a way I lean away from the traditional approach and sometimes end up with a layered picture that makes me feel like I've accomplished something cool. Hasn't happened that often as yet. haAmong my favourite old masters are Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Rembrandt, Singer-Sargeant, Constable, Monet, Van Gough but undoubtedly the pinnacle for me is Joseph Mallord William Turner. Unsurpassed in my eyes. I've had a few people comment on my own work stating that it reminds them of a 'Turner' which is unfathomable to me but not surprising considering the mantle I've always held him up on. My modern favourites are Joseph Zbukvic, Alvaro Casagnet, Herman Pekel, Barry McCann, Iain Stewart, Ted Wesson, Rolf Harris (yes, I know, talking art only ha), Sterling Edwards among others. I'll now put a few of my more 'successful' works up here.  They are all For Sale unless stated otherwise. Please enquire via my Etsy Site or Facebook Page
